USPTA Ultimate Tennis Training is an instructional DVD set produced by the USPTA (one of the most respected organizations for training teaching pros in the United States).
It is advertised on TV as revolutionizing the way the tennis is taught, so we decided to test it out here at OnlineTennisLessonReviews.com!
Ultimate Tennis Training consists of a collection of DVDs featuring some of the top teaching pros in the industry including Brett Hobden, Otis Sadler, and Leslie Allen.
The program centers on the so called “Ultimate Secrets Of Tennis” – this is a comprehensive collection of 36 DVD’s that highlight what great tennis players have in common. They include:
- Steady head
- Weight forward at impact
- Solid foundational footwork
- Diagonal sweet spot path (swing plane)
- racket face control
The video footage totals over 8 hours and includes:
- The Secrets of Today’s Serve
- The Secrets of Today’s Forehand
- Tactical Weapons for Tennis
- Winning Patterns and Drills
- Zone It to Own It
How Ultimate Tennis Training Performed
The Ultimate Tennis Training program focuses on 36 different video lessons covering the “ultimate secrets” that all tennis players can incorporate into their game.
We tested it with tennis players of varying skill levels and found everyone was able to come away with several specific swing techniques and drills to apply directly to their game.
On the positive side, the ultimate secrets are general enough that tennis players of all shapes and sizes can benefit. It doesn’t force everyone into the exact same swing or court movements, but it allows room to work within your physical capabilities.
On the downside, Ultimate Tennis Training can be a little redundant in certain areas, with multiple DVD’s covering the same topics.
The program sells for $499, which is more expensive than many comparable products.
One word of caution… We think the Ultimate Tennis Training series comes from an honest company that creates high quality products, but at this point we haven’t seen a money-back guarantee offer from them with this product.
When we purchased our test copy, in addition to receiving the DVDs we were automatically enrolled in 1 year membership at tennis resources.com.
Again, we think the USPTA is a great company, but be prepared for the big expense of this program.
- Sound, fundamental instruction that is appropriate for all tennis players
- Features highly respected instructors
- Much more expensive than comparable products
- Not as comprehensive as some of the other video programs
- Billing can be confusing
The Bottom Line:
The Ultimate Tennis Training DVD System is a good way to build a solid foundation to your tennis game and your swing. At $499 it is much more expensive than some of the other options.
